Welcome to Just Digital

Just Digital is a series of short sessions to help you navigate online wisely and advocate effectively. It is a collaboration between the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC Global), World Council of Churches (WCC), and Association of Protestant Churches and Missions in Germany (EMW).

Just Digital is divided into two modules. Level 1 — Big Issues in Small Bytes — gives you the knowledge and skills to understand the most important issues for navigating wisely online. Level 2 — Taking Control, Making a Difference (available August 2024) — encourages you to take action wherever you are to make our online lives safe and fair for everyone.

The course is designed to be followed in order at your own pace. Each session contains insight from experts around the world, illuminating resources, and fun assignments that help you master important concepts. You can finish each session of three lessons in 30-45 minutes, with the choice to do extra activities.

Why digital justice?

  • Are you worried about fake news and social media causing real-world problems?
  • Does online hate speech and trolling impact your life?
  • Are you curious about how AI will change the way we connect and communicate?
  • Do you want to use digital technologies to build community and work for social and ecological justice?
  • Are you committed to ecological and social justice, but are not sure how this relates to anything digital?

If you said yes (or even maybe!) to any of these questions, then you are in the right place. Digital justice covers a lot of ground, including the challenges in the questions above – and so much more! In our digitalized world, digital technologies affect human rights, the environment, how we communicate, and more.
